He has been the center of many assignments, essays, drawings, writings, everything I can put him into, really. Michael stands at Marshall's door, contemplating this decision and relationship with Marshall thus far. He goes to ring the doorbell, then turns and leaves. Michael tells Ollie that Marshall wasn't home, and the two hit the town in lieu of the murder. Michael, Ollie, and a couple of Ollie's friends get high, and dance the night away at a local club. While returning from the bathroom, Michael catches a glimpse of someone who he believes to be Sunny. They lock eyes. Michael vomits, and runs for the exit.

Michael runs for an unknown amount of miles. He stumbles through the snow for a long while, before finally falling in front of the [[Roman Catholic Church of St. Gabriel]]. He's weak with exhaustion, and lays there until he's found by [[Father Simmons]], the pastor of the church. As expected, Simmons is incredibly concerned and asks about Michael's situation. It comes gushing out of Michael in sobs. Michael tells the entire story to someone for the first time. Similar to everyone before him, Simmons tries to promise Michael a new beginning, a metaphorical baptism, in his church. Simmons relates his past to Michael's and assures that he can help. Michael, by this point, is unfazed. He simply agrees, and leaves Simmons with the notion that he'll be attending his sermons in the coming days. However, all Michael has taken away from the exchange is the idea of baptism, which he takes into his own hands.

His receptionist remarks that Michael clearly doesn't want the help, and cannot be changed. However, Dr. LeBeau is determined, and feels that he must make up for already "failing" Ms. Lovell. His receptionist tries to argue with him further, and then is fired on the spot. Dr. LeBeau, in his determination, leaves to search for Michael.

Michael leaves, and it is unclear as to where he goes, although he is presumed to eventually return to the lake house. (Why did he do that? Is he acoustic?) He is not heard from for several weeks, resulting in the rapid deterioration of his relationship with [[Daisy]], his girlfriend at the time. The prologue ends with Daisy severing ties with him. While settling into his new apartment, Michael attempts to talk about their mother's death with Marshall, who promptly shuts him down. Marshall refuses to speak about the subject further, either dismissing it or dodging it when prompted. Marshall leaves abruptly, and later on reaches out to express his excitement about working together and nothing more.

[[Dr. LeBeau]], Ms. Lovell's old therapist, extends his condolences and services to Michael over a phone call. He apologizes for not reaching out sooner, as he had trouble getting a hold of Michael. Michael declines, however, Dr. LeBeau sheepishly admits that he had already arranged for the two of them to meet up on the assumption that Michael would accept his offer. Michael reluctantly concedes. The two of them meet continue to meet up several times throughout all acts, however, Michael often fails to show.

Michael begins working as a secretary for [[Lucius Lawrence]], the owner of a private law firm. Lucius is shy at first, and generally not very demanding. Aside from a few small negligent tasks, Michael is not incredibly busy. Marshall nags him about his performance, which Michael takes to heart, and attempts to do more for Lucius, much to the strange delight of Marshall. This continues for a couple of weeks. Michael also begins to befriend a homeless man named [[Ollie Collins]] on his commute to work. The two establish a casual friendship, and Ollie often inquires Michael about his life. Michael talks, and brings Ollie food or cash. 

One night, Marshall shows up at Michael's apartment, begging for his help. Marshall reveals that news of his affair with Lucius has gotten out, and is rapidly spreading from coworker to coworker. This affair was discovered in passing by an unnamed coworker, who caught a glimpse of the two in Lucius's dark office. Michael is shocked by this news, as he was unaware of this affair as well as his brother's homosexuality. Marshall fears for his career, and begs Michael to take the fall for it, as they look similar enough to do so. Michael is unsure, and tries to console his brother for the time being. Regardless, Marshall inevitably ends up pinning it on Michael. Michael is promptly fired. When Michael confronts Marshall about it, Marshall states that Michael being culpable "simply makes sense" on account of his effeminate and "gay" behavior. He claims that he "has more to lose" and leaves without further explanation.

On his way home, Michael runs into Ollie. Ollie innocently inquires about Michael's day, in which Michael responds with an explosion of rage. He angrily explains the situation with Marshall, and Ollie responds in a similar way, for unknown reasons. The two of them, both equally enraged and reckless, begin to conspire. Ollie immediately suggests violence, then murder. Michael is of course startled, but is seduced into compliance. The two of them get carried away "in preparation", which consists of partying in attempt to drown any semblance of sorrow.

By the time the day comes, Michael is just as unsure as he was before. Ollie pushes him towards Marshall's apartment, promises him this is the right decision, and sends him on his way. Michael, armed with an illegal firearm, stumbles up to Marshall's door. The moon is rising, and Marshall would be asleep any second now. Michael stands at Marshall's door, contemplating this decision and relationship with Marshall thus far. He goes to ring the doorbell, then turns and leaves. Michael tells Ollie that Marshall wasn't home, and the two hit the town in lieu of the murder. Michael, Ollie, and a couple of Ollie's friends get high, and dance the night away at a local club. While returning from the bathroom, Michael catches a glimpse of someone who he believes to be Daisy. They lock eyes. Michael vomits, and runs for the exit.

Michael runs for an unknown amount of miles. He stumbles through the snow for a long while, before finally falling in front of the [[Roman Catholic Church of St. Gabriel]]. He's weak with exhaustion, and lays there until he's found by [[Father Simmons]], the pastor of the church. As expected, Simmons is incredibly concerned and asks about Michael's situation. It comes gushing out of Michael in sobs. Michael tells the entire story to someone for the first time. Similar to everyone before him, Simmons tries to promise Michael a new beginning, a metaphorical baptism, in his church. Simmons relates his past to Michael's and assures that he can help. Michael, by this point, is unfazed. He simply agrees, and leaves Simmons with the notion that he'll be attending his sermons in the coming days. However, all Michael has taken away from the exchange is the idea of baptism, which he takes into his own hands.

== Florent's Interlude ==

Meanwhile, Dr. LeBeau stays late at his office and worriedly rants to his receptionist. Michael has been consistently missing every appointment at this point, and is essentially unreachable. Dr. LeBeau begins to speculate. Missing appointments is in character for Michael, but his complete disappearance worries Dr. LeBeau to no end. His receptionist remarks that Michael clearly doesn't want the help, and cannot be changed. However, Dr. LeBeau is determined, and feels that he must make up for already "failing" Ms. Lovell. His receptionist tries to argue with him further, and then is fired on the spot. Dr. LeBeau, in his determination, leaves to search for Michael.

Michael leaves the church, walks to Lake Daisy, and stands on the edge for while. He decides to go for a swim, which is apparently his idea of a "baptism." Meanwhile, Dr. LeBeau arrives at Michael's apartment, and when he realizes no one is home, he begins to lose hope. He quickly leaves, and drives around the city in hopes of encountering Michael. He only ''happens'' to see Michael face down in the icy lake on his way back. At this point, Michael has been under for a couple of minutes. Dr. LeBeau scrambles down to the shore, and painfully fishes Michael out. 

While Michael is unconscious, he has a vision of his mother. They share a tender exchange, which is interrupted as Michael is yanked back into reality. He awakens with a startle, and is even more frightened by the sudden sight of Dr. LeBeau leaning over him. This ends Part One.

Michael begins working as a secretary for [[Lucius Lawrence]], the owner of a private law firm. Lucius is shy at first, and generally not very demanding. Aside from a few small negligent tasks, Michael is not incredibly busy. Marshall nags him about his performance, which Michael takes to heart, and attempts to do more for Lucius, much to the strange delight of Marshall. This continues for a couple of weeks. Michael also begins to befriend a homeless man named [[Ollie Collins]] on his commute to work. The two establish a casual friendship, and Ollie often inquires Michael about his life. Michael talks, and brings Ollie food or cash. 

One night, Marshall shows up at Michael's apartment, begging for his help. Marshall reveals that news of his affair with Lucius has gotten out, and is rapidly spreading from coworker to coworker. This affair was discovered in passing by an unnamed coworker, who caught a glimpse of the two in Lucius's dark office. Michael is shocked by this news, as he was unaware of this affair as well as his brother's homosexuality. Marshall fears for his career, and begs Michael to take the fall for it, as they look similar enough to do so. Michael is unsure, and tries to console his brother for the time being. Regardless, Marshall inevitably ends up pinning it on Michael. Michael is promptly fired. When Michael confronts Marshall about it, Marshall states that Michael being culpable "simply makes sense" on account of his effeminate and "gay" behavior. He claims that he "has more to lose" and leaves without further explanation.

== Act 4 == 
On his way home, Michael runs into Ollie. Ollie innocently inquires about Michael's day, in which Michael responds with an explosion of rage. He angrily explains the situation with Marshall, and Ollie responds in a similar way, for unknown reasons. The two of them, both equally enraged and reckless, begin to conspire. Ollie immediately suggests violence, then murder. Michael is of course startled, but is seduced into compliance. The two of them get carried away "in preparation", which consists of partying in attempt to drown any semblance of sorrow.

== Act 5 ==
By the time the day comes, Michael is just as unsure as he was before. Ollie pushes him towards Marshall's apartment, promises him this is the right decision, and sends him on his way. Michael, armed with an illegal firearm, stumbles up to Marshall's door. The moon is rising, and Marshall would be asleep any second now. Michael stands at Marshall's door, contemplating this decision and relationship with Marshall thus far. He goes to ring the doorbell, then turns and leaves. Michael tells Ollie that Marshall wasn't home, and the two hit the town in lieu of the murder. Michael, Ollie, and a couple of Ollie's friends get high, and dance the night away at a local club. While returning from the bathroom, Michael catches a glimpse of someone who he believes to be Daisy. They lock eyes. Michael vomits, and runs for the exit. 

== Act 6 == 
Michael runs for an unknown amount of miles. He stumbles through the snow for a long while, before finally falling in front of the [[Roman Catholic Church of St. Gabriel]]. He's weak with exhaustion, and lays there until he's found by [[Father Simmons]], the pastor of the church. As expected, Simmons is incredibly concerned and asks about Michael's situation. It comes gushing out of Michael in sobs. Michael tells the entire story to someone for the first time. Similar to everyone before him, Simmons tries to promise Michael a new beginning, a metaphorical baptism, in his church. Simmons relates his past to Michael's and assures that he can help. Michael, by this point, is unfazed. He simply agrees, and leaves Simmons with the notion that he'll be attending his sermons in the coming days. However, all Michael has taken away from the exchange is the idea of baptism, which he takes into his own hands.

== Florent's Interlude ==

Meanwhile, Dr. LeBeau stays late at his office and worriedly rants to his receptionist. Michael has been consistently missing every appointment at this point, and is essentially unreachable. Dr. LeBeau begins to speculate. Missing appointments is in character for Michael, but his complete disappearance worries Dr. LeBeau to no end. His receptionist remarks that Michael clearly doesn't want the help, and cannot be changed. However, Dr. LeBeau is determined, and feels that he must make up for already "failing" Ms. Lovell. His receptionist tries to argue with him further, and then is fired on the spot. Dr. LeBeau, in his determination, leaves to search for Michael. 

== Act 7 ==
Michael leaves the church, walks to Lake Daisy, and stands on the edge for while. He decides to go for a swim, which is apparently his idea of a "baptism." Meanwhile, Dr. LeBeau arrives at Michael's apartment, and when he realizes no one is home, he begins to lose hope. He quickly leaves, and drives around the city in hopes of encountering Michael. He only ''happens'' to see Michael face down in the icy lake on his way back. At this point, Michael has been under for a couple of minutes. Dr. LeBeau scrambles down to the shore, and painfully fishes Michael out. 

While Michael is unconscious, he has a vision of his mother. They share a tender exchange, which is interrupted as Michael is yanked back into reality. He awakens with a startle, and is even more frightened by the sudden sight of Dr. LeBeau leaning over him. This ends Part One.
